hard disk is being accessed all the time (aka "constant spinning")
I have a problem. I'm running Win XP SP3 on a Toshiba laptop, on a WD Scorio hard drive. Of late the drive never stops spinning - the noise it makes when accessed never stops, even when no applications are running. I switched off indexing, and I removed "allow indexing" attributes from the drive. And yes, I defragmented the drive and there's a lot of free space on it. Can anyone tell me what the ____ is going on and what process is accessing the drive? Process Monitor doesn't help - the processes it lists are legitimate, like Explorer. How can I fix this problem - this cannot be right, and I'm tired of the bloody noise.1 person needs an answerI do too
